FAQ's

What type of engine do I need? With Rib's this size Outboard propulsion is the only viable option.
What horsepower do you recommend? It really depends on what you want the boat to do and how fast you want to go. The 4.8 for average usage, 40hp to 60hp is recommended. The 60 Hp is the most popular engine for the 4.8, Giving excellent all round performance. The 40hp is the most popular for sailing club rescue.

Single or Twin Engines?

Twin motor's on this length of craft is not usually an option due to transom width, cost and weight. We can fit twin 25hp Mariner's on the 4.8, But this is costly. We really recommend the 5.3 as the smallest size for twin applications.

Two or Four stroke?

The four stroke's are the most popular choice these days, we would recommend 40hp or 60hp. With the cost of modern four strokes, ease of use, quietness and fuel savings, the four stroke has overtaken the two stroke in popularity on this size of boat.

Can I ski behind a Rib?

Rib's are good general purpose boats and are excellent for water sports. The 4.8 with a 60hp Outboard will pull out a mono skier. Our new ski frame is designed to give a higher pull for Wakeboarding etc. We have also started to use the new Evinrude E-Tec 75hp, we only recommend this horsepower for a dedicated ski boat.

Is it cheaper to buy the boat and engine separately or as a package?

You will find that our pricing structure means that the package deals we offer are extremely competitive. You also have the added benefit of having the engine professionally installed.

What trailer do I need?

We recommend a single axel Unbaked trailer
